About this ebook

'An unburdening, a witness statement and a thriller all at the same time ... electrifying.' The Times

I have to assume that there is a very real chance that Putin or members of his regime will have me killed some day. If I'm killed, you will know who did it. When my enemies read this book, they will know that you know.

A Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller. A true-life thriller by one of Putin's Most Wanted.

In November 2009, the young lawyer Sergei Magnitsky was beaten to death by eight police officers in a freezing cell in a Moscow prison. His crime? Testifying against Russian officials who were involved in a conspiracy to steal $230 million of taxes.

Red Notice is a searing exposé of the whitewash of this imprisonment and murder. The killing hasn't been investigated. It hasn't been punished. Bill Browder is still campaigning for justice for his late lawyer and friend. This is his explosive journey from the heady world of finance in New York and London in the 1990s, through battles with ruthless oligarchs in turbulent post-Soviet Union Moscow, to the shadowy heart of the Kremlin.

With fraud, bribery, corruption and torture exposed at every turn, Red Notice is a shocking political roller-coaster.

A truly fantastic real life, eye-opening read. Mr Browder and all involved in exposing a truly heinous regime, which is responsible for many, many atrocities, are very brave people. Long may Mr Browder and his team continue to pursue criminals around the world who deem themselves above the law. They use their positions of power to steal, threaten, blackmail, intern and murder, may they be brought to justice irrespective of the positions they hold... "Freezing Order" is the next book which carries on with the story up until 2022 and brings more insights to some of the very corrupt world we live in today.

I have loved reading every chapter of Red Notice; you can't just read a few chapters and then take a break from it, it's unputdownable. Bill Browder has exposed the reader to what doing business in Russia is like; unveiling corruption from the top to the bottom and everyone in between. If you have never heard of Sergei Magnitsky before, then you really need to read this book, from corruption, to torture and murder, this book has everything and more. I can't recommend this book highly enough; my review doesn't do Red Notice enough justice. Buy the book and enjoy it.

A very good and easy read, perfect for those learning English. It has all of it: romance, detective, and thriller. It's about one man's fight against corrupt and inhuman russian regime, his struggle for justice and most importantly, it's a true story about greed, lies, hatred, and also courage, strength and honorable values to oppose that. And what speaks to me the most, the book perfectly shows the vast difference between Western and slavish post-soviet mentality. A must read IMO.

About the author

Sir Bill Browder, founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management, was the largest foreign investor in Russia until 2005, when he was denied entry to the country after exposing widespread corruption. Since 2009, when his lawyer Sergei Magnitsky was murdered in Russian police custody, he has been leading a campaign to impose visa bans and asset freezes on human rights abusers and highly corrupt officials. The United States was the first to impose these sanctions with the passage of the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act in 2012. This was followed by the US Global Magnitsky Act in 2016. Since then, Canada, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have all passed their own versions of the Magnitsky Act. Browder is currently working to have similar legislation passed across the European Union and other countries around the world. He received a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honour's List in June 2024.
