You
Burritos
That third word is so important (yet so often overlooked) that I left it out of the title to take a moment to think about it and dig into this book and read every single chapter.
ANOTHER NOT SPOILER ALERT: This entire books is 3 chapters. Each chapter is 1 word. I know, it's crazy but then yes, the entire book is 3 words long.
KINDA SPOILER ALERT:
Chapter 1 is: I
Chapter 2 is: Love
Chapter 3 is: ____
Have you guessed it yet?
What's the first thing that comes to mind?
This book is all about Chapter Three. It's all about that single word.
There's a great foreword by Nicoline Huizinga who talks about how this book came to fruition. Then there's the epilogue where I explain why I wrote this book.
But that Chapter 3?
That's the big secret.
And it's not "You" and it's not "Burritos."
Can you guess?
I spent 9 years thinking about writing (and not writing). Then, on November 1, 2012, I was challenged by John Muldoon of “Monthly Experiments” to write Every Single Day for 30 days. I succeeded and kept going for 2,808 days in a row. The book in your hands is my 33rd book.
I could stop this “About the Author” section right there and you’d probably think,
“Gee, that’s great, Bradley. Good for you. Wow, 30 days to 2,808 days in a row and then 33 books. That’s great … and it sounds impossible.”
I don’t know. That’s what I’d probably think if I read it.
But check out that first line: 9 years NOT writing.
Yep, thinking about it, dreaming about it, wishing, wondering, regretting, hoping … need I go on?
Here, let’s sum it up quickly:
1. Those years I wasn’t writing? I didn’t love me.
2. Those years I was writing? I loved me.
Nicoline talks about being selfish and loving one’s own self. Think about this a moment (and please know, I’m writing this as much to myself as I am to you because I certainly haven’t mastered the art of self love yet even though I dared to pen this tiny book about it), and let it sink in: say it to yourself, even whisper it: I Love Me.
I wish I said it more often and lived up to it.
Oh, and those 2,808 days in a row writing? It started with a single day, a single post, and on that day, I chose me.
Choose you.
