About this ebook

They planned to hate each other …

England 1801: LADY LOUISA, daughter of the EARL OF WHICKERTON, prided herself on her composure—until PHINEAS HAWKE, VISCOUNT BARRINGTON, with his devilish grin and eyes like storm clouds, unraveled her.

First they clashed …

At an unremarkable ball, Phineas uncovers Louisa’s most mortifying secret, and he teases her mercilessly. Each glance, each smirk from him, is a silent duel, challenging her to maintain her poise while her heart races. Louisa vows to shield her emotions, her determination fueled by a mix of irritation and an unspoken desire.

… then they kissed.

PHINEAS HAWKE, familiar with the charming LADY LOUISA by sight but not by heart, suddenly finds her impossible to ignore when competition arises. Her disdain puzzles him, and as he delves deeper, he realizes his playful jests have masked a deepening affection for her. This revelation spurs him into a pursuit filled with witty repartee and hidden passions.

He thought he'd found a nemesis; turns out, it was his future wife.

As stakes rise, so does their mutual fascination. In a game of pride and passions, will they risk a fall for love?

When every argument ends with a kiss, who's really winning?

Ever since Louisa overheard a conversation at a ball, she has hated Phineas Hawke with a passion. It doesn’t help that every time she sees him he teases and needles her, and now his brother has wed her cousin they are thrown together even more. After a bad judgment call on Louisa’s part leads to anguish and fear for a sibling, her guilt nearly breaks her but an unexpected outburst provides Phineas with an opportunity to gain her trust, and perhaps her affection. Highly recommended romance.
