The best way to describe this novel is that it’s a sweet, small-town romance, but ridiculously hot, too. “I had the hots for Reed’s older brother. As much as I knew I shouldn’t, I officially did.” Kyle is a single dad with two boys. He’s a general surgeon who married his high school sweetheart and was then almost destroyed by her alcoholism, infidelity, and selfish demands. “Meredith’s combination of sexy and sweet had my self-control hanging by a fine thread.” Meredith was the girl who jilted Kyle’s brother at the altar, eight years earlier. She’s never been able to live it down, and Kyle’s mother’s animosity doesn’t help her popularity in their town. Kyle and Meredith cross paths when Meredith has a medical scare. When she offers to tutor his kids with their homework, he grabs at the chance. Their friendship and mutual sexual desire flourishes the more time they spend with one another. “I need you to know that I’m with you. Completely with you.” I enjoyed the quiet, slow-burning vibe to this novel. There were some really hot moments as these two adults come into their sexual own. Kyle and Meredith conduct their relationship behind closed doors to protect Kyle’s sons, and to protect themselves from the town gossips. However, when Kyle is pulled up about it, he has to show that he’s willing to fight for Meredith. When a face from the past shows up in town, Meredith has to prove that she’s not going to run away, again, and stand by the man she loves. This is a lovely story about second chances, forgiveness, and family. Really enjoyed it!

4.5 of 5 Stars Brenda Rothert’s DRAWN DEEPER is a heartwarming addition to the Lockhart Brothers Series. Dr. Kyle Lockhart has been recently divorced and now a single father of two boys. He finally finds someone he is interested in; however, she has a negative history with his family. This contemporary romance takes place in Lovely, Missouri. My heart went out to Kyle. He married his high school sweetheart, Kim. She became an alcoholic and left him with two young boys. He is a wonderful father and man. He is the oldest of the Lockhart boys. I love that he appreciates his mom more for everything she did for them when they were growing up, now that he is a single father. I also respect that he stood up to his mother when she was being unfair. I love how the Lockhart brothers support each other. I love Kyle’s kids: Jordan and Eric. Being a Harry Potter fan, I adored that their puppy is named Hagrid. I also, appreciate that Kyle bought his boys a puppy because Kim never wanted pets. He wanted to make his boys happy at a sad time in their lives. I like Meredith Hobbs. I felt bad how she was treated in her community. I respect that she left Reed instead of doing something she knew she would regret. She misses her mother. She is a good daughter. She is self-sacrificing. I love that she tutors Kyle’s kids. She is wonderful with children. Meredith’s relationship with Kyle’s mother, Grace, was intense. It caused some interesting tension in the story. Brenda Rothert’s DRAWN DEEPER was a wonderful read. The story was touching and convincing. It demonstrates the difficulties and benefits of living in a small town where everyone knows each other. This is a story of second chances. The characters are likable and grew throughout the novel. DRAWN DEEPER was well-written and emotional. The Lockhart Brothers is a wonderful series. Ah, I have been waiting for Kyle's book for ages! This eldest Lockhart brother has had my interest and attention since meeting him in DEEP DOWN, the first book in the Lockhart Brothers series by author Brenda Rothert, and I am excited to finally be able to read his story. It's taken time and a lot of work, but Dr. Kyle Lockhart has finally found a place of normalcy for himself and his two young sons. Working past the pain of a marriage long gone bad and his wife's desertion, Kyle's not interested in anything but maintaining a safe and loving environment for his boys. Sure, he's lonely sometimes, but taking care of his sons is his main priority, so making time for a woman isn't even really on his radar. Meredith Hobbs knows all too well what it means to be lonely, too. The former fiancée of Kyle's brother Reed, Meredith has been pretty much persona non grata in their small town of Lovely since she left Reed at the altar many years before . But Kyle isn't concerned with the past, and is happy to take Meredith up on her offer to tutor his two sons in her spare time. Soon enough, the friendship between Kyle and Meredith changes into something much more, and leaves both of them feeling like second chances are definitely possible. DRAWN DEEPER was most definitely worth the wait. Who knew that such a passionate man existed beneath the calm cool exterior that Dr. Lockhart projects (I had my suspicions, but, like, whoa, Dr. Kyle!)? One of the things that I like most about Kyle is his ability to look beyond Meredith's past actions and appreciate her for who she has become. And Meredith, who had come across as not so necessarily likable in the past books, is really much stronger than she knows. Finding the love of the right man, and sharing the feeling of having a real family, brought out a whole new strength in her, and it was a pleasure to see her grow more into the current version of herself. Brenda has done a great job of portraying all of the aspects that make Kyle a great dad, doctor, son, and lover, and seeing him and Meredith get their HEA is extremely satisfying. 4.5 'heartwarming but hot second-chance' stars for Kyle and Meredith. I'm looking forward to HIDDEN DEPTH, the next book in the series, because, more Lockhart brothers? Yes, please!
