About this ebook

Virginia Constance Kramer is a good girl. Until she meets the man that makes her want to be bad…

He's got a record; she's never been so much as grounded.

His old man is a convict; her dad is the police sergeant.

He's seen too much darkness; she can barely see out of the stained-glass curtain the world wants her to hide behind.

She's willing to fight her parents, the town, and the whole world if she has to, but first she has to get past the wall Joe Franklin has built around his heart. He thinks she's too good, too sweet, too pure for a man like him.

She thinks being good is overrated.

Author Confession: This is a slower burn romance than you might be used to from me, but I promise Virginia and Joe are supercouple material. It's the classic opposites attract, good girl/bad boy, other side of the tracks, her first time tropey goodness you need in your life. You know how sometimes it feels like nobody sees the real you? Well Joe really sees Ginny. He may be rough on the exterior, but he's the only one who understands how much pain she's in as her family grieves the death of her little sister. Watch him grow into an alphamallow right before your eyes. And then the slow burn will scorch your eReader.

For readers who love: JA Huss, Carly Phillips, Sam Crescent, Lauren Landish, Alexa Riley, Madison Faye

Over the top, bad boy good girl romance, wrong side of tracks romance, her first time with experienced older man, college romance, safe romance, safe read, no cheating, coming of age romance, alphamallow

You'll need a box of tissues AND an ice-cold drink for this one! It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of this author's insta-love rom-coms, but I was pleasantly surprised by the depth I found in this departure. Get ready for a highly emotional love story that's equal parts personal journey (for both main characters) and steamy romance. The writing is simply beyond brilliant. There's the usual incisive banter that we've come to expect from this author, but never before have I read such a cathartic description of grief and despair, certainly not in a romance. Be assured that not a word is out of place here, as it is imperative that we see Ginny and Joe wrestle the demons in their hearts before they're ready to give those hearts to each other. Ginny is about as sheltered as a high school senior can be, even though her life is crumbling around her as her family splinters in different directions to deal with a horrible tragedy. Joe comes from the absolute worst kind of family background, and the only thing he's sure about is that he's not ever going to be good enough for Ginny, so why even get her hopes up? The undeniable physical chemistry these two have takes a firm back seat to the emotional connection they forge, almost completely against their will, certainly against their better judgment. It's a slow-burn romance, especially as time must pass before Ginny is old enough to negate any legal ramifications, but the age gap is nothing compared to the emotional baggage each must come to grips with. Ultimately, Joe's alphamallow gruffness that tries to hide his virtuous heart is no match for Ginny's resiliency and determination make him confront his heart. When the triumphant moment arrives - when Ginny says for all of us, "Finally!" - I almost stood up and cheered. Their HEA was so sweet, so tender, it was pure perfection. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

About the author

Brill Harper is a pseudonym. Like…a secret identity. By day she’s Clark Kent, writing romance books for young adults and grownups. By night, she’s Brill Harper writing unfailingly filthy, yet super sweet books, that would make her alter ego blush.

She especially likes to writes book about quirky, awkward heroines and alpha bad boys. Well, except that they are really alphamallows once they fall in love. Seriously--these heroes only have one weakness, and it's sticky, sweet love. They don't let anything stand in the way of taking what belongs to them. Ooey-gooey marshmallow hearts in big, burly dominating dudes. What's not to love about that?

Brill's books are filthy/sweet for when you're in the mood for something a little over the top. Okay, a lot over the top. Sorry, not sorry.
