About this ebook

One moment, a certain salaryman is on cloud nine, that promotion finally within his grasp, and the next, he’s keeled over pain, and that was all she wrote. Luckily for him, fate had a bit more to say. A world of magic, monsters, and other such life-shortening entities await his newly reincarnated self for a second shot at life. With nothing but his past-life experiences and sharp business skills to guide him in the foreign lands of Galdardia, he takes up the name Luciel and vows that his (next) demise will be from naught but old age. And what better way to avoid a(nother) gruesome death, than by taking up a nice, cushy job as a healer? But getting by in another world doesn’t come easy, or cheap. It’ll take a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to hone the skills he needs to make his way. But make it he will...or die (again) trying!

This is an enjoyable read for sure. I would say that it starts out very slow but averages out toward the end. If you like a slower paced story then I'd recommend this to you but if you're the type that needs a bit more action in their stories then you should pass on this. The characters aren't particular deep.. in fact they're a bit shallow. I'll be picking up the second volume as the story did manage to peak my interest. Overall a 6 out of 10.

This and the next couple books are decent, but in book 4 the protaganist starts buying a bunch of slaves. All people who are slaves against their will (kidnapped and mistreated) and would like to get back to the lives they once had. Doesn't free them. Just treats them like smart, valuable farm animals. It amazes me how many japanese light novels/manga these days seem to be perpetuating the myth of the happy slave. "As long as they're treated well slavery is totally ok! I mean if they hadn't been bought then some mean master would be mistreating them, so really this is a good thing!" It's sickening and I wish someone had warned me before I'd invested in the series. So here's your warning.

started good actually, your average Heroine life in another world. but after vol. 6 you're left with a story where the world revolves around the main character.
