About this eBook

We have to burn to rise from the ashes.

Nearly two years after her divorce, Felicity Hawthorne is ready to date again. At least, she thinks she would be, if the idea of dating wasn’t so freaking terrifying. But then she wins a date with sexy, swoony firefighter Noah Prescott at a charity bachelor auction, and everything changes.

FDNY captain Noah isn’t looking for a relationship. Since losing his father as a teenager, he’s spent the past twenty years shouldering heavy responsibilities, and he knows he doesn’t have the time or energy to be anyone’s boyfriend. But one date with sweet, charming Felicity has him wanting things he shouldn’t want.

Which is why Noah suggests Felicity practice her budding dating skills with him. He wants more of her, and practice dates are as close as he can come to having her in his life without hurting her. But then dating practice turns into practice of another kind—the kind that involves moans and sighs and orgasms—and Noah knows he’s going to fall. Hard.

Burning Up, the sixth book in The Prescotts series by Tara Wyatt, is passionate on a whole different level. Noah is without a doubt a selfless man of courage in the truest sense of the world…more so for the responsibilities he carries out of quilt than as a Firefighter. Noah and Felicity’s chemistry is palpable, literally surging off the pages…and yet what was more breath stealing about the couple was his understanding for and tenderness towards her. Each story in the series has been remarkable in its own way, yet Noah and Felicity’s captured my heart on such a heart wrenching level that they have remained with me long after their story has ended. The level of their intimacies was heart pounding, their honesty inspired, and Noah’s care and concern that Felicity re-establish her own self worth was endearing. An emotional attachment was easily established with the couple…one that will sorely be missed as the series winds down to one remaining book. This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the author. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

This is book 6 in a series but it is a standalone. This is such a wonderful read. Noah is a firefighter, Felicity is a teacher. Noah has guilt issues and Felicity thinks there is something wrong with her after a divorce. Noah first meets her when she gets trapped in an elevator and he rescues her. Then Felicity with the help of her friends buys Noah at a bachelor auction and after their win date he decides to help her get back in the game of dating by practice dating with him. These two characters are well thought out, you're rooting for them through the whole book. The plot is so well written. The author takes the practice date pretend boyfriend to the next level. Noah and Felicity are so hot together, their chemistry jumps off the pages. Once I started this book I could not put it down. Extra steamy and I loved it. Great read. I received a copy of this book from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Burning Up is the sixth book in The Prescotts series by Tara Wyatt. I have not read every book in the series, but I have not had any problems reading them as stand-alones. The author does an excellent job of including any history that is needed to follow the storyline. The NYFD team is charming, and I loved seeing the characters from previous books. The storyline was straightforward with low angst and the main characters were likable. FDNY Captain Noah Prescott blames himself for his father’s death and as the oldest child, he assumed all the heavy responsibilities for his family. He is a helper and cannot turn anyone down when they need help. He realizes he doesn’t have the time or the ability to have a romantic relationship. Noah knows he should stay away from Felicity because he knows in the end, she will be hurt but he can’t ignore the connection between them. Divorced for over a year, Felicity Hawthorne teaches high school English and after Noah and his team rescue her from a stuck elevator, she never expects to see the handsome firefighter again. Attending a charity auction with her friends sounded like fun except seeing Noah being bid on at the auction dimmed the evening until her friends help her win him. He was the perfect man to help her practice dating again, but she would rather date him. This was a fun, entertaining, and easy-to-read book. The characters and the issues they faced were real-life which made them easy to connect with. I loved watching Felicity grow and become more confident in herself. She had spent years with a man who had never put her first, so she had to learn who she really was after her divorce. Noah was a wonderful guy but had no boundaries for his friends and family. He had to take a stand and do something for himself for once. They were a great couple and I look forward to seeing them again in future books. The next book is Hudson’s, and it looks like it will be just as good as this one. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
