Jonathan Kaufman is a pickleball- and tango-loving writer whose debut novel, Burying the Pawn, reflects his passion for adventure travel and special education. The son of an American diplomat and a Spanish-born artist, Jonathan received his BA in economics and political science and an MBA from the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill. He ran his own adventure tour company, Nature Expeditions International, Inc., for eighteen years after working as a White House Budget Office economist and corporate banker.
Jonathan married a Venezuelan-born interior designer, Maria, and nothing has mattered more to them than raising their two children with learning disabilities. Jonathan has become an expert on education reform. He divides his time between South Florida and Chapel Hill, and—wherever he happens to be—roots fanatically for the UNC Tar Heels.
