For Carmelo Anthony, life growing up was a difficult one. He grew up without his father, who died when he was two years old. His family was poor and lived in a crime–driven neighborhood, but their faith held them together. By the time Carmelo was a junior in high school, he was six feet, five inches tall and was playing basketball. At age nineteen, after a short time in college, he was chosen by the Denver Nuggets in the first round draft of the NBA. Along with being a family man, he spends time doing charitable work. Setting records and winning Olympic medals, Carmelo Anthony is a force to be reckoned with.
