An interesting read from the origins of the vampire myth/fantasy, important in its time as a source of inspiration (for Bram Stoker, for example) but apparently dismissed by many for its (by today's standards completely benign) allusions to female homosexuality. The plot is quite well-structured but partly uneventful or repetitive, and the "aha" moments are spotted miles ahead. Still a pleasant read for fans of the gothic genre.
