This third book of the Small Town Sweethearts series can be read as a stand alone. That said, I would encourage the reader to read the previous stories since it will enrich the enjoyment of this book. This story centers around Boston’s firefighter Liam McBride and E.R. nurse Ellie Harding. He’s the older brother of Ellie’s best friend, and she was his little sister’s friend who had cancer as a child. A disease that took his Mom and an experience that changed his life. When they spent a night together they never expected it to end in a pregnancy. Especially since due to the cancer, Ellie didn’t think she would ever get pregnant. That’s when the challenges begin. The story started out slow , picked up, and then slowed down again. I felt that at times there was too much angst and explanations of things that were occurring. That said, deep down , it’s a story about taking chances and hope. About not taking life for granted nor allowing the fears of “what ifs” stop you from living life at it’s fullest. Because if you do, you might miss the chance of finding your HEA. Though I felt this story fell short , especially compared to books 1 and 2 which were awesome, it was still worth my time. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
