ALLAN KARDEC (1804-1869) Hippolyte Denizard Leon Rivail şi-a luat un pseudonim, după ce un spirit i-a dezvăluit elemente dintr-o viaţă anterioară. În acea viaţă, era druid şi se numea Allan Kardec. S-a născut şi şi-a făcut studiile la Lyon. Doctor în medicină, a fost un erudit cu o activitate neobosită. În 1854, în casa unor prieteni, el descoperă "mesele rotitoare". încurajat de comunicarea cu lumea de dincolo, Allan Kardec s-a simţit curând învestit cu o mare misiune. A suportat glumele proaste şi batjocura, sacrificându-şi poziţia socială ca să se consacre, întreaga viaţă, studiului contactelor
