About this ebook

Dive into this fun and quirky Urban Fantasy novel that draws from Asian mythology!

You know that sickly feeling in the pit of your stomach when things have not just gone wrong, but very, very wrong?

Yeah, that feeling.

Like when you find yourself alone, facing off against an angry pontianak, a type of Asian vampire, who on top of being powerful, magical, and deadly, hates your guts.

At the time the risk seemed worth it to find out more about my magic.

Now? I wish I’d just stuck to barbering the supernatural. Given my weak magic, I’m going to have to find a way to talk myself out of this. Fast.

Grab Marked by Azurite to find out whether I make it.

Book 4 of the series and I'm guessing it marks the end of the first arc. A LOT IS REVEALED in this book! Many answers, and a lot of new questions. When you get to the end I guarantee you'll be yelling "THAT'S IT!?" at the book/e-reader. But it's so, so worth it. It's a quick read without filler, you don't get bored with lengthy descriptions or unnecessary and irrelevant introspection. The main character feels very real, spends an appropriate amount of time thinking and then gets right down to business. The author has said there will be more books in the series and I cannot wait until the next comes out.

So, this is the fourth book already and it picks up right where the last one ended. I have to say, I'm not super happy with how short it is. There is just one storyline, nothing else going on. I thoroughly enjoy the world-building and Apiya's story - and that's exactly why I'd have loved to hear more, have more than one thread to follow, read more about side characters and stories. But, even so, the book works, it is fun to read, the pacing is good, as is the language. Everything is really well done and enjoyable - hence the sticking to the 5 stars, in spite of this (mild) criticism. What I loved - mildest of spoilers - is that a big secret is being revealed. I'm rather tired of stories that keep dragging out one secret for book after book. As if the authors didn't trust their creativity to come up with something else to keep the readers interested. That's obviously no concern with Celine, I'm sure Apiya's story will remain engaging and fun. So, definitely a recommendation from me!
