Charles Lamb (1775–1834) was an English poet and essay writer born in London. He was friends with many prominent literary figures, including William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. One of his most celebrated works is the children’s book ‘Tales from Shakespeare’ (1807), which he wrote in collaboration with his sister, Mary.
