I one-clicked Charmed by the Bartender while it was on sale for free and I was not disappointed! It was the first book I'd read by Piper Rayne and I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. The story and dialogue are funny, Whit and Cole's chemistry is off the charts and Whit's friends Lennon and Talia were a great addition. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next in the series!

4 Star Review Charmed by the Bartender (Modern Love #1) by Piper Rayne AUDIO REVIEW: Although I have read or listened to a number of books by Piper Rayne this series is new to me. Narrated by Joe Arden and Stephanie Rose and both narrators did justice to the characters of Cole Webber and Whitney Knight. After losing her job and being forced to return to San Francisco and her grandparents home, Whitney is feeling decidedly down. Deciding on a one night stand she hooks up with hot bartender Cole. Determined to never see him again, she is in for a shock . Attending one of her best friends (Tahlia’s) engagement party she comes face to face with Cole again as he is the fiancees brother. That is strike two for Cole as years ago he did wrong by Whit. What starts of as intense dislike (on Whit’s part) slowly morphs into a strong friendship. I really liked Cole but I had a harder time connecting to Whit, there was something about her that annoyed me. Lennon, her other best friend on the other hand I adored and cannot wait for her story. Although not a long book, there is certainly plenty of heat, some witty banter and humor . As their relationship developed it was entertaining to watch the push and pull dynamic of. The chemistry between them was intense and the strong friendship between the women added an additional layer to the story.

4.5 Stars for Charmed by the Bartender ( Modern Love #1) AUDIO REVIEW: I have read and listened to many books by Piper Rayne but somehow this series was missed so I was excited to meet Cole Webber and Whitney Knight and this second chance romance did not disappoint. Joe Arden and Stephanie Rose did a great job with the narration, bringing both the characters and their story to life. Whitney is back living in her grandparents home in San Francisco after losing her job, she feels the world is against her so looking to escape she decides to have a one night stand with a hot bartender named Cole. It was meant to be one night, they were never meant to meet again so she is shocked when she bumps into him at her best friends engagement party. Cole and Whitney have a love/hate relationship, he loves, she hates but we all know there is a very fine line between love and hate and they slowly become friends and that soon turns into so much more. This is an entertaining listen with plenty of witty banter, lots of sizzling chemistry but what took this book to another level was the friendships the woman shared. I adored the characters and I’m looking forward to book 2 in the series.
