Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics (CSAA) is an academic, non-profit national legal entity based on voluntary membership of scientists and engineers in the field of aeronautics and astronautics. CSAA was established and legally registered in February 1964, providing service related to aeronautics and astronautics for its members. It is a member of the China’s Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and a full Member Society of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) on behalf of the Chinese scientific and technological community.
CSAA now has 242 corporate members and over 118,000 officially registered individual members. There are 36 technical committees, covering nearly all the aeronautical disciplines. 12 work committees were established to steer its activities in academic exchange, international cooperation, talents recommendation, science popularization, education and training, science & technology consulting, achievements evaluation and appraisal, publishing, conference and exhibition, UAS and awarding,etc. Eight member stations were established in member-condensed area to better provide service. Local societies of aeronautics and astronautics were established in 20 provinces, regions and municipalities. CSAA has developed cooperation with its counterparts in the U.S., Russia, U.K., Japan, Korea, Australia, Czech and Israel.
It carries out more than 100 activities on a yearly basis. It also stages the CSAA Science and Technology Award, CSAA Feng Ru Aeronautical Elites Award as well as CSAA Youth Science and Technology Award for its members. CSAA sponsors 7 journals, namely Aerospace Knowledge Magazine, Model Airplane, Acta Aeronautica Et Astronautica Sinica, Chinese Journal of Aeronautics, Journal of Aerospace Power, Journal of Aeronautical Materials, Advances in Aeronautical Science and Engineering,
