Wolverine's first solo story. In this tale Logan finds out his betrothed Mariko has married another man at the command of her father the powerful crimelord Shingin. Shingen deems Logan unworthy and proves it in a trial by combat leaving Logan's spirit shattered. Logan befriends thief/assassin Yukio but his heart remains true to Mariko hunted by the Hand a group of ninjas sent by Shingen Logan decides to prove he is worthy by bringing down Shingen's emipre. It's a wonderful tale of redemption, love and honor.

I liked it, it was fun to read. Claremont's story was good, but I thought it fell apart at the end. I didn't like how he just shoved in mastermind so that Wolverine couldn't change or grow as a character. Frank Miller did an alright job on the art,but his faces are kinda creepy.

This comic book is so amazing, its like a real movie. The scenes are so amazing, the action thrilling. Wolverine at his greatest strength, as he over comes his challenges. The newest wolverine is based from this comics. Highly recommend this comic, villains like shingen, silver samurai, ninjas, viper, make the book entertaining.
