This book contains a ton of historical inaccuracies. I can oversee a few of them, but putting a complicated medical procedure about 70 years before it actually existed and then the village physician can do it without any preparation or professional assistance? In the regency era physicians were still mostly quacks. Dear writers, please read at least the Wikipedia entry before you start writing. But in the end this was just the icing on the cake of bad writing.
