Rather polemical. Still has some good information. A book with a more complete discussion of the intellectual historical philosophical background of Postmodernism is entitled A Primer On Postmodernism.

Christopher Butler is Professor of English Literature at Oxford University, and is the author of many books, including Early Modernism (OUP, 1994).
