Acerca de este libro electrónico

This comprehensive, illustrated text offers an in-depth look at the mechanics and musical thought process of teaching the classical guitar the "why" rather than the "how" the classical guitarist does things a certain way. In the author's words, "Classical Guitar Pedagogy is the study of how to teach guitarists to teach." This university-level text will be of enormous assistance to the teacher in explaining the musical, anatomical, technical, and psychological underpinning of guitar performance. It contains ideas and techniques to help organize your teaching more efficiently, plus tips on career development as a classical guitar teacher and performer. If you make your living as a classical guitar teacher/performer you owe it to yourself and your students to get this book.

Acerca del autor

The only American-born guitarist to win First Prize at the International Toscanini Competition (Italy), Anthony Glise is a product of the Konservatorium der Stadt (Vienna) and New England Conservatory (Boston) with additional study at the Universite Catholique de Lille (France), Harvard University and Accademia Degli Studi "L'Ottocento" (Italy). Anthony gives periodic seminars on early music education for parents and children in the U.S., Germany, Italy, Austria, and France. In addition to his concert work and university teaching, he still maintains a highly-select studio of particularly talented young classical guitarists, many of whom began their studies with him at the age of 5. A Pulitzer Prize Nominee for composition, Anthony has performed and been awarded diplomas at such festivals as Ville Sable (France), the ARCUM Festival (Rome), Festival Hautecombe (France), and the Nemzetkozi Gitarfesztival (Hungary). In addition to traditional classical repertoire, his concerts often include 19th century works performed on a priceless 1828 Staufer Viennese guitar. Anthony's commitment to the arts has led to many diversified activities. His writings have been published extensively in The Soundboard (U.S.), Guitar International (England), and Gitarre und Laute (Germany). An active composer, Anthony's original compositions have been premiered in such cities as New York, Chicago, Rome, Vienna, Lille (France), and Esztergom (Hungary). His recordings include traditional works (solo, chamber, orchestral, and ballet) as well as original compositions for such labels as Eclipse (France), Young Recording Artists (USA), and Dorian Recordings (USA). His first recording, Overview, was chosen as one of the year's "Top-5 Classical Releases" by Vienna Life Magazine in Austria. Anthony lectures at the Academy for the Study of 19th-Century Music (Italy). When not on tour, he lives and teaches part-time in the Flanders region of Northern France and part-time in the US.
