About this eBook

Detective Danni Grace has never met a police officer who wants to face a scenario where pulling the trigger on another person is the only option. When the worst does occur and there’s a police-involved shooting, it leads to riots and calls to disband the entire police force in La Rosa, Danni’s hometown.

After fifteen years on the force, Danni has had enough. Injured in the line of duty when a protester throws a chunk of concrete at her and shaken by the vitriol being shown to the police, Danni realizes for the first time that she’s lost her passion for the job.

While she’s on a leave of absence, though, a community activist in La Rosa is shot and a fellow officer is blamed for his murder. Taking on this case means stepping back into a job Danni’s not sure she can do anymore . . . and working closely with her ex-husband, Gabriel Fox, an investigator for the city prosecutor’s office. Danni will need to tap into her code of courage to uncover the truth, prevent another injustice, and uphold her oath to serve and protect.

Too dreary for me: I am afraid I found this a bit down and depressing as it dealt with the issues of police relations, racial/cultural tensions and rioting. Whilst I appreciated that it respectfully and accurately depicted what is currently happening in the USA, it was a bit too heavy for me. I guess I was not in the right frame of mind for it and was looking for a bit more escapism and something to bring hope and joy into my day. However I thought that this book did a good job of showing the good and the bad of policing and how complex the situation can be given the current political climate. There was a sweet second chance romance and I enjoyed seeing divorced Danni and Gabe reconnect. The faith aspects of the story were also handled well. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Danni fifteen years on the force, now saying enough is enough, but was it. Drawn back in when an officer she knows is the prime suspect of murder Then add an ex husband, will test her even more, to do her job. Powerful story of an incident that goes viral and not showing the true facts. Showing Danni’s trust in justice, and trust in and for her fellow officers on the force. A gripping story from the first page to the last. Given ARC by Net Galley and Tyndale for my honest opinion

Code of Courage is the first book that I've read of Janice Cantore's, but I plan on it not being the last. It grabbed my interest from the first line and held on until the end. Ms. Cantore's writing style is easy to read. The characters, Danni and Gabriel, are easy to like and are believable. Part of the plot is exactly what is going on in our streets. I found the other part of it to be quite possible. If you like action, suspense, and mystery with a clean romance, you've found the perfect book.
