About this eBook

Meet "Assassin Mama."

After her daughter’s death, ex-assassin Sei fled to the Ardennes forests of Belgium to try to find peace. But a mysterious source contacts her, promising to return her daughter. Simply take on one last job: break a notorious assassin out of jail.

Diyarbakir Prison is the most dangerous place in Turkey. If torture doesn’t kill a prisoner, the guards will. Breaking out is impossible. Breaking in is insane. But if Sei ever wants to see her daughter again, she’ll have no choice but to agree to the plan.

Contract: Bait is an action-packed, page-turning thriller with one hell of a twist. They messed with the wrong mother.

I had read one of the last books from this series (called Dumb Move) and had completely enjoyed it. So I decided to start reading this series from the beginning but unfortunately I was disappointed. The main character does very questionable things and even though I understand that she's been an assassin, still it does not justify it. Sei felt as if everyone had wronged her and that she was the victim but I felt the opposite where she was bringing chaos into others lives. Very disappointing unfortunately!

I'll be honest, I read the first 2 chapters and stopped. In my view, it is a poorly written first person assassin novel. Opening scene is an overly described action sequence of the main character taking on a boar. And thereon it felt overly described down to what undies she picked out of her drawer.

Sei had given her up career as assassin after giving birth to a child who did not survive. Two years later, Sei discovers that her daughter did actually survive, but was kidnapped at birth. Information regarding her daughter's location will be provided to Sei as payment, should she successfully complete a dangerous mission. This was a great introduction to the world Sei lives in, and had some twists you didn't expect.
