Hudson and Avery’s love story in Cowboy Honor by Michelle Beattie, book five in her Tangled Up in Texas series, is a wonderful, emotional, and heartwarming story, featuring a vacation hook-up that led to consequences; consequences that weren’t shared with our hero until he returned from a doubled deployment. Hudson Granger came home after an eighteen-month deployment to find that his estranged family was communicating and working together. His brothers were mending fences and have all found love. Their father was slowly recovering from a massive heart attack. The biggest shock to Hudson was learning that he has an infant daughter; a nine-month old daughter no one bothered to let him know about. It was almost like being in an alternate universe, twilight zone edition. Avery Collins, a nurse, never planned to tell Hudson their vacation fling resulted in a child. He’d made it clear he wasn’t looking for anything serious, and after her dad ran out on her and her family, she didn’t want to rely on a man for anything. But when her daughter has a serious health scare, Avery’s hand is forced. Contacting Hudson’s family for financial help was one of the hardest things for this stubborn, independent, woman to do. But Avery would do anything for baby Jenna. Hudson is determined to be a part of baby Jenna’s life, despite Avery’s protests. Being together they discover the magnetic attraction and sizzling chemistry they had before was still there. Avery was determined to keep Hudson at arm’s-length, having them co-parent only. Hudson had different thoughts, he wanted everything, a wife and family; and he was determined to get it. Two stubborn people, fighting for what they want, created fireworks as their sizzling chemistry and magnetic attraction connected. Ms. Beattie wrote a wonderful, heartwarming and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, authentic conversations, and charming characters giving Hudson a chance to prove to Avery that she can trust him and take a chance on a life together. I highly recommend Cowboy Honor to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
