The Christian Atheist: Believing in God but Living As If He Doesn't Exist

The negative is the absurdity of the dichotomy of the title and seeing Groeschel refer to himself and "Christian Atheists" like him over and over again. The references are obvious that Groeschel was attempting to shock believers who do not live their life as followers of Christ. This is not a deep, philosophical work to consider and does not relate to either questioning the existence of God or agnostic wondering. I found it insulting when it quickly became obvious that Groeschel coined the title term a "Christian Atheist" to describe a gnostic believer of God to dive deep into living life as a Christian. The intent to expand people in their walk with God is good. The approach Groeschel took comparing gnosticism with atheism was silly and insulting. The 1973 book "The Christian, the Atheist, and Freedom" by Joseph A. Magno and Victor S. La Motte also has a definition that a christian atheist is one who has the belief that Christ died on the cross but was not resurrected. There are many other books that challenge believers to have a deeper, Christ filled life that do not insult cognitive readers and critical thinkers.

Christian atheist is an oxy- moron. It makes no sense - just like the existence of god. Christians are all the same; jumping through hoops and using very creative mental gymnastics to convince themselves there is a god. Ridiculous book that just reinforced my atheism.

I have met enough atheist out there. As a Christian i have witnessed online those that leave the faith to become one. Quite frankly they hang around one apologetics site. One man felt that Calvinism was the reason he became an atheist. Most Christian books are just opinions written by men & women who think they have all the answers. I think a number of books & people can cause a person to stumble. One of the reasons why i stopped buying books that give advise in the first place. That and false teachings. The bible is the only book. I can see why the church is more like a business then the "REAL CHURCH". THE ONLY REAL CHURCH EXISTS OUTSIDE ORGANIZATIONS. BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE AN ATHEIST TO SEE THAT! One former ATHEIST said this on their website. She or he said the best way to witness to them is the LOVE of God. God's logic is not our logic neither are his ways. Don't need to read your book. Most books say enough.👎👎👎👎
