About this ebook

Pure and straightforward narration: I believe that our wonderful world is made of this. Everything communicates something, and we all tell ourselves incessantly, moved by that primordial instinct of speaking and listening to stories that we inherit from childhood. This atavistic impulse to report and communicate, to "share" ourselves and our precious thoughts, comes from ancient times. And it is something that involves us despite ourselves, according to what modern neuroscience studies explain: "The mere fact of informing the world of our point of view is enough to activate the brain regions of primary rewards, those that release dopamine”. Storytelling is, therefore, an inexhaustible and unconscious source of well-being. We love to do it. It sustains identity and nurtures a sense of belonging to a community. And it is precisely this that I believe we should strive for unceasingly, precisely in an era in which we read little, but in return, we write with greater ease and superficiality. On the Web, but without a "real" web. The short story is usually about a single effect conveyed in a few significant episodes or scenes. The form encourages setting, concise narrative, and the omission of a complex plot; character is revealed in the action and dramatic encounter but is rarely fully developed. Despite its relatively limited scope, however, a short story is often judged by its ability to provide a complete or satisfactory treatment of characters and subject matter.

I like to call the short stories in the "Kindness days", colourful snapshots of the imagination; small stories imbued with spirituality, emotion and love, accompanied by beautiful illustrations by artists from five continents and as many as 14 countries: Zimbabwe, Albania , Argentina, Palestine, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, Iran, Syria, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, New Zealand and Guatemala.

The stories offer the reader vibrant, exciting, sincere glimpses of life. People, landscapes, things, captured to the crackling sound of a magnesium flash.

Good reading and good life, always under the sign of kindness.
