This volume contains three essays by American essayist Waldo Emerson, including: "Culture", "Character", and "Compensation". Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 - 1882) was an American lecturer, essayist, and poet at the forefront of the transcendentalist movement during the mid-19th century. He is considered to be one of the most important figures in the American romantic movement, and his writing has had a significant impact on the work of many of the thinkers, writers, and poets that followed him. Other notable works by this author include: "Essays: First Series" (1841), "Essays: Second Series" (1844), and "Nature, Addresses and Lectures" (1849).
