Witches, shifter wolves, vampires, and a bevy of other magical creatures are terrorized by a dark spectre that preys on their supernatural power. Odette, along with her friends, will protect the city and its people, no matter cost. Even if that cost is their lives. But the La Magie is always watching, smacking down any whose power they think rivals theirs. Odette and Evie have been trained to keep their magic small, lest the evil coven of witches turns its eye their way. With a predator on the loose and several of her loved ones hurt, Odette reaches her breaking point. She will take down the supernatural serial killer. A wonderfully suspenseful paranormal tale with great characters. The ending left me emotionally spent, but with the fire of Odette's determination to overcome burning in my heart. The b*tches of La Magie best get onboard with the good guys or be brought to their evil knees along with the killer. Bring on book two!. Free via Booksprout. Voluntary review.

Sad after reading this I did not expect what happened. Now we have to wait for the next book to see if they catch the killer. Love Barrett, his character is so rough and cuddly at the same time. Odette and Evie have had trouble all their lives and it seems to keep following them. I really enjoyed this book but it should come with a warning. I could not put it down. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a definite underdog to winner story. There’s the big covens who covet power and force anyone who’s not there’s to be small so your typical bullies and then there’s our characters who hide in plain sight and keep their magic small and hope for the end of the coven’s stranglehold. There is plenty of supernatural characters and powers set in the absolute perfect setting of New Orleans. Can you think of a better setting really? Lots of secrets and dangerous goings on, some romance as well. O
