The rapid growth of big data and the storage of all that data is creating a critical problem for many organizations with IBM® z SystemsTM environments. This situation occurs because the data that is stored is using all of the addressable device storage that is available.
This IBM RedpaperTM publication describes how extended addressable volume (EAV) for IBM 3390 Direct Access Storage Device (DASD) devices can solve the lack of addressable device storage space problem. The paper also describes the design points of EAV, the value of implementing EAV, and the use of EAV.
