About this ebook

Introducing a new thriller series that keeps you guessing and on your toes through every twist and unexpected turn....

USA Today Best-Selling Author Dale Mayer does it again in this mind-blowing thriller series.

The unlikely team of Detective Kate Morgan and Simon St. Laurant, an unwilling psychic, marries all the unpredictable and passionate elements of Mayer's work that readers have come to love and crave.

Newly promoted detective Kate Morgan stands up for the victims in the world, never backing down or giving up. From a family of victims, Kate will not tolerate those who take advantage of others. The worst ones prey on the hopes of desperate people to line their own pockets.

And when Kate finds a connection between more than a half-dozen cold cases to a recent case--where a child's life is in jeopardy--she'll make a deal with the devil himself to protect the child.

Having the gift of Sight, Simon St. Laurant knows that once he uses it, he can never walk away. But when nightmares of his own past are triggered, Simon can’t stand back. Determined to help, Simon vows to save these children--even if it means dealing with the cranky and critical Detective Kate Morgan.

*TW//CW abuse, blood, brutality, child abuse, death, dead body, disturbing content, domestic abuse, kidnapping, sexual abuse, pedophiles* I really really love this new series. It starts with this first book that's creepy, disturbing, full of suspense and thriller. It starts with Pedophiles case, a child kidnapping, a bone chilling story that seriously disturbing and although sometimes it's not explicit but it really takes my imagination to that horrible place with those children, I can imagine all the terrifying traumatize things. My heart racing most of the time, I cried, cringed, and winced with this book. I can feel all the angst, the spine-chilling sensation and the desperation. It's also multiple pov from Kate, Simon and the bad guy, so yeah... the thriller takes on another level of creepiness. Aside from this wonderful crazy creepy story, it's also following Detective Kate Morgan and Simon who has the gift of Sight, solving the case, save the children and catch the bad guy. I can't not root for these two wonderful characters, their background story so heartbreaking and I loveee their banter and chemistry. Wonderfully creepy story with amazing characters, definitely totally highly recommended for suspense thriller fans.

The subject matter described in this story is sensitive and painful, however, as always, this author handles it with her usual expertise and grace. Kate Morgan is new to her detective position and is taking a spot once held by a highly respected 25 year veteran who was loved by his team mates and killed on the job. The team was not ready to accept a new person even though 6 weeks had passed, they were still hurting. Kate, a natural hard worker, was doing her best to fit into a role she had been looking forward to for years. Simon St. Laurant has the gift of sight but is not super excited about it, but he is too worried about what he has seen in his dreams and what it may mean to not share it with the authorities. This is where the somewhat cranky, tired, concerned Kate meets the equally cranky, tired and concerned Simon. This is a new series with very interesting, likeable, growing characters that grab your attention from the beginning. I was really uncomfortable with the subject matter but it was a great reminder about the dedicated people who are devoted to make life better. My heartfelt thanks go out to all those who fight for justice. Thank goodness we have these dedicated people to fight for us!

After working three months with the scum of Vancouver, BC, newly promoted homicide detective Kate Morgan is still working to prove herself to the unit. Instead of working together as a team, Kate always finds herself working alone until she has to interview unwanted psychic Simon St. Laurant who begins to share his nightmare visions to help young abused kidnapped victims. Not believing in anyone associated with psychics, she has trouble believing Simon is trying to help locate the missing children and not one who is kidnapping them. After working only on missing children cases, Kate notices a pattern and eventually brings the unit in on her cases. Meanwhile, Simon is always calling in locations to find a victim when he has one of his visions. The team works to find a connection to tie him to the case to which there are none. The two finally start working together after he keeps sending her texts that provide information she needs to help her cases. Now Simon’s ex-fiancée’s nephew Leonard has been abducted and the group is racing against time to find him as well. Hopefully before it’s too late to find him alive. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
