About this eBook

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author J. Kenner comes a new story in her Stark series…

I am Damien Stark. From the outside, I have a perfect life. A billionaire with a beautiful family. But if you could see inside my head, you’d know I’m as f-ed up as a person can be. Now more than ever.

I’m driven, relentless, and successful, but all of that means nothing without my wife and daughters. They’re my entire world, and I failed them. Now I can barely look at them without drowning in an abyss of self-recrimination.

Only one thing keeps me sane—losing myself in my wife’s silken caresses where I can pour all my pain into the one thing I know I can give her. Pleasure.

But the threats against my family are real, and I won’t let anything happen to them ever again. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep them safe—pay any price, embrace any darkness. They are mine.

I am Damien Stark. Do you want to see inside my head? Careful what you wish for.

This story basically picks up from where "Lost With Me" left off, but now everything is coming from Damien's POV. Even though Anne is now home safe and sound, Damien feels as if he has failed his family because with all he has, he wasn't able to protect them. I realize Damien is broken, but it would have been nice to have been in his mindset hanging out with friends and seeing a lighter side of him. Damien came off as very whiny, to me, in this book, and while I don't expect him to be perfect, it was a tad too much,. Damien is a well written story, and it will have you guessing who the monster is because you think you know, but then you don't, but then maybe you do. It plays with your head a little and keeps you enthralled. Questions (big and small) left over from the previous story are answered. However, the series has evolved and become more about the Stark family dynamic and all the tragedy that has come their way, than about the kink when the series first started. The series has taken on more of a thriller like component to it. There has always been a theme of picking up each other's broken pieces and being each others rock, but Nikki and Damien have become borderline vanilla since we first met them. I kind of miss that aspect of their story. We got a little more kink in this story than the previous book, but still doesn't compare to earlier stories. Nikki has been the POV for so long that we know the stories of all the cracks in her shell, what makes her tick, and act the way she does, but Damien is still kind of new territory. It was nice to see Nikki play more of the strong role in this story. I do hope we get Damien's POV more, and that we get it during happier times.

Emotional, thrilling and sexy!! A definite MUST read! Finally, we get inside Damien’s head and just after his daughter is returned. Damien is a strong man who has to protect the ones he loves at any cost. When his daughter is kidnapped he feels he failed his family. Now it’s Nikki who must give Damien strength to face the next challenge. Will his love for his family and Nikki’s strength be strong enough for him to do what is needed to protect his family? If you haven't read Damien and Nikki's story, I strongly urge you to do so. You will fall in love from the very beginning.

I'm loving Damien's POV! I don't think I'll ever tire of the Stark world, the passion, the betrayal, the lies, the charm, give it all to me! Damien is no exception. Told from his point of view, we get a glimpse into his power, his thoughts, his world. He may seem like he exudes confidence, but after the prior activities with his daughter, he's doubting everything, while still trying to maintain control. His love for Nikki and his daughters shines through, but will outside forces make him lose that which he loves most? I gobbled this book up, and I am crossing my fingers for even more in this world!
