Interviews with witnesses reveal sightings of a local resident, a red-head, clad in a flowing skirt and mud boots, chasing a strange man in the vicinity of where the victim was found. Already distrustful of women since his wife cheated on him while he was deployed, Andre is fully prepared to suspect the red-headed femme fatale, Calliope Jobert, of collusion in the dastardly deed.

Though she proclaims her innocence and that of her elusive male companion of that night, her peculiar behavior and beauty bears further scrutiny. Andre risks falling under her spell as he joins her frenzied search for the true killer.
