About this ebook

Wildlife is a collection of high quality images of marine life, flora and fauna presented in an ebook format by Western Australian photographer, Daniel Barker.

Optimised for devices with colour screens, this ebook contains 52 photographs of subjects that range from the beautiful to the bizarre, and together they present a composition that seeks to showcase the interesting and extraordinary things that can be discovered in even the most tranquil corners of the natural world. Living in highly developed urban environments, it is all too easy for us to lose an appreciation of the fact that we are all a part of the incredibly diverse ecosystem. While some aspects of the natural world are destructive and dangerous, the ecosystem as a whole is always maintaining the air we breathe and the water we drink. For many of us, it also serves as something of a sanctuary from the artificial conditions to which we subject ourselves in modern technological societies.

Originally envisaged as the simplest of stress management tools, Barker explains that he kept the text in Wildlife to a minimum so busy people can appreciate in the images in a range of circumstances without feeling the need to absorb narrative. In this way, it might particularly appeal to commuters (who can dip in and out of it at their leisure without missing their stops) or to people in waiting rooms (who might appreciate something that centres them while enabling them to keeping their mind on the business at hand). Of course it might appeal to anyone with a curious mind and an adventurous heart who also an interest in this beautiful planet's natural treasures.
