About this ebook

In this captivating novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, a wounded warrior and a woman on the run find salvation, passion and unimaginable danger in the ghostly darkness of the Carpathian Mountains…

Monk. Bounty hunter. Vampire slayer. Andre Boroi has spent centuries battling the undead, holding out against the dark with honor. But now, gravely wounded by master vampire Costin Popescu, Andre will be easy to track. His only chance is to disappear into the gray mist of the Carpathians. To wait. To hope.

In the mountains in search of a precious crystal, geologist Teagan Joanes suddenly finds herself hunted by those she once trusted. Then she comes across the warrior—wounded, wanting and irresistible. Andre has been craving her for an eternity: his lifemate. Her warmth envelops him. Her scent pulsates. And with every beat of her heart, Teagan surrenders to a passion she can’t possibly comprehend...

I love Christine Feehan and her work, but this wasn't one of my favorites. I wanted to know more about the ancients at the monestary, and wouldve liked other characters to have been present in the book, such as Mikhail or Gregory. I also found teagan repeated the same things over and over. I did like Andre's character very much and want to better understand Teagan's gift.

This book reminds me of the beginning of the Dark series. I liked the different bond between life mates and Teagan's unique healing gifts and psychic abilities. Their story took too long to develop. The master vampire should have been minor in comparison to Teagan helping the ancients. That's huge. We've seen the centuries old Carpathian hunter battle the undead, along with his lifemate, but watching them aid the Carpathian males in their fight against the darkness would have been an incredible read.

Andre should have been a fascinating character - one with the wealth to fund the search for psychics. In this book there is no reference to the great struggle of the Carpathians or their possible alliance with the Lycans, jaguars, stray mages. We are stuck in a cave with bonding going on. The only other interactions are with a master vampire and his pawns. The heroine has a talent that may be very interesting but is just suggested and developed towards the end. Expected better from this author.
