About this ebook

From the New York Times bestselling author Darynda Jones comes the second novel in her laugh-out-loud Sunshine Vicram mystery series, A Good Day for Chardonnay.

Running a small-town police force in the mountains of New Mexico should be a smooth, carefree kind of job. Sadly, full-time Sheriff—and even fuller-time coffee guzzler—Sunshine Vicram, didn’t get that memo.

All Sunshine really wants is one easy-going day. You know, the kind that starts with coffee and a donut (or three) and ends with take-out pizza and a glass of chardonnay (or seven). Turns out, that’s about as easy as switching to decaf. (What kind of people do that? And who hurt them?)

Before she can say iced mocha latte, Sunny’s got a bar fight gone bad, a teenage daughter hunting a serial killer and, oh yes, the still unresolved mystery of her own abduction years prior. All evidence points to a local distiller, a dangerous bad boy named Levi Ravinder, but Sun knows he’s not the villain of her story. Still, perhaps beneath it all, he possesses the keys to her disappearance. At the very least, beneath it all, he possesses a serious set of abs. She’s seen it. Once. Accidentally.

Between policing a town her hunky chief deputy calls four cents short of a nickel, that pesky crush she has on Levi which seems to grow exponentially every day, and an irascible raccoon that just doesn’t know when to quit, Sunny’s life is about to rocket to a whole new level of crazy.

Yep, definitely a good day for chardonnay.

Such a fun read! I loved the witty banter that occurs and the relationship between Sunshine, who is a Sherriff and her daughter Auri, who is also very interested in solving crimes. This book is very reminiscent of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, with all of the supporting characters and the hilarious antics that ensue. I had not read the first book in this series, and I'm guessing had I done so, I would have enjoyed it even more, but despite not having read it, I was still able to pick it up and follow along. A lot happens in this story and based on the cliffhanger thrown in at the very end, I'm wishing I knew when the next release might happen. Despite that, I highly recommend this entertaining and fun book! Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the Advanced Reader Copy. I have voluntarily left an honest review.

I received a free electronic ARC of this excellent police procedural, set in the small New Mexico town of Del Sol, from Netgalley, Darynda Jones, and St. Martin's Press. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me. I have read this novel of my own volition, and this review reflects my honest opinion of this work. This is the second in the series featuring Sheriff Sunshine Vicram but is completely stand-alone. For a good laugh and a great tale, you cannot beat Darynda Jones. Her interactions with her daughter, her parents, and her fella, her actions and reactions at work, are enough to keep you in stitches even on a bad day. She can turn my day around, even on a second read.

Oh! My! Word! Darynda Jones does it to me every time! A Good Day for Chardonnay is excellent, awesome, and FUN! From hilarious to heart-wrenching, the second novel in the Sunshine Vicram series reaches deep inside me to pull out the laughter that has been in hiding much of the last year and touches my heart with love for these awesome characters. It is not essential to read A Bad Day for Sunshine first, but it does help build a stronger feel for the characters so if it is easy, do it but don't let the need to read the first book keep you from reading A Good Day for Chardonnay soon. You will catch up with not difficulty. Ms. Jones includes arcing storyline but they are not big cliffhangers and the ones from the first book tied up in this one. I was THRILLED to get that magic approval to read the ARC of A Good Day for Chardonnay via NetGalley; it made my week! I started telling my friends about how much I enjoyed the book from the first chapters. Some things are so good they just have to be shared immediately, no spoilers of course! My Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and especially the amazing Darynda Jones for giving me the opportunity to read A Good Day for Chardonnay early! #NetGalley #Darynda Jones #AGoodDayforChardonnay #StMartinsPress
