Second Grave on the Left was full of amazing information on some of my favorite characters. Charley is on the hunt for a missing woman that is friends with best friend, Cookie. The case has Charley chasing a trail of clues with some pretty surprising twists and turns. Meanwhile, it turns out Reyes is far more than what we thought at first. When Charley finds out he's the Son of Satan (like, for real), she's forced to accept that she doesn't know all there is to know about the world around her and even her own abilities. Second Grave on the Right not only includes an awesome mystery, it sets a huge stage for some pretty amazing things to come. Darynda Jones doesn't disappoint with Charley's sarcasm and sense of humor. Her personality plays so well with Cookie's, and their conversations are some of the best I've ever read.

I think I’m becoming addicted to this series. After reading book one and the first novella, I totally love all the quirkiness that is Charley, Cookie, Uncle Bob and the rest of the gang, which include the dead. I enjoyed reading about this case and how it unfolded. As Charley is working her way to solve the mystery of a missing woman, she is also trying to help Reyes. Unfortunately, he doesn’t want her help and he gives her dire warnings along the way. I don’t want to give too much away but I will say that I absolutely love Reyes even though we see very little of him. This is much more about Charley with a touch of romance thrown in. That little bit makes me want so much more. Laced with humor that tickles me every step of the way, it also has an intriguing storyline that kept me trotting along as fast as I could read. There are still so many things left unanswered and small particulars that I’m curious to see if they will affect future cases. I’m definitely digging into the rest of the series with fingers crossed for more of Reyes. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and St. Martin's Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

-Second Grave on the left- I was a bit taken back with the two case's she was working on. The fact that she could even stop looking for one for a second to spend looking for the other totally miffed me. I still love the Charley and the author's snarky T-shirt humor. My kind of girl, She get's me she really does. I found myself laughing at her as much as I was horrified by her ordeal. It was a darker book for me, than the last one. I enjoyed the ride and can't wait to find out if she is forgiven or if she ever learns what she can do.
