cw: CSA child sexual assault is a morally grey issue in chapter one. I've left this review about 2 years since reading as I was wondering if I was being sensitive, but no. That's weird. edit: I wanted to add while sexual assault and rape has been a large issue personally throughout his works this was my final straw for the series. Spoilers: Very early in the book there is a scene of a town discussing punishment for a man who was found taking his trousers off to rape a young girl (We are told she's aged 2). the girl is visibly traumatised and clearly has already endured some level of assault and while an angel 'wipes' her mind the angel argues that the man does not deserve death since he apologised. while the angel is intended to be an antagonist this is still a weird thing to include in a book that readers should be aware of.

Wonderful to return to these characters with Dalglish's craft a bit more refined and his storytelling at his best. The Half-Orcs' return feels mysterious and is as thought provoking as it is captivating

Spoiler alert: After having killed Thulos, and burnt Velixar downs to ash I didn't expect much of this book. The main plot and story line was already finished, brothers reunited and Karak defeated it seemed the story was already over. However Mr. Dalglish managed to pull it out and engage the reader with a thrilling story focusing on the conflicts between men and angels and the creatures of the vile wedge. PD: Loved seeing Darius back again, it brought the back the memories!
