Marvel's SPIDER-MAN: Hostile Takeover

A great base for Insomniac's take on the Spider Man mythos, detailing the prior events to the game organically. The story plays out much like a detective story, involving mystery and murder, yet still maintaining the classic Spider Man wit and humour you'd expect. Although suffering slow pacing during the middle act, the characters easily sustain your interest. Although non-essential to understanding the game, it helps to set the tone, easily getting readers invested in this new world and its characters.

This novel does an excellent job of giving the soon to be released game's story into context. Having this background into the initial mission has already made me feel more invested in a game I'm yet to even play. The relationship dynamic between Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson was also a great read.

Okay book, like - story is quite predictable from the start. Sony pushed the author to rush the book out, probably why it's not quite great. Similar like the game. Sony making mistakes.
