Lady Delilah Everly had a very difficult upbringing with her mother’s goal to move up in society at any cost. She had gone through two husbands already, both dying in a similar manner and making Delilah suspect Lady Penelope had helped both along. She was abusive to her children quite often and thought nothing of smacking them or taking a cane to them. Money was tight, and her mother freely used them as servants for herself. Lady Penelope never let her hands get dirty with any kind of work. Only the cook remained and, without her, they would have all starved. But she was very old and may not last much longer. Now that Delilah has turned 16, her mother has plans for how to use her to her own benefit. But Delilah escapes rather than submit to a match with a rich old lecher who would be required to support her mother. This was the best move she could have made, as her path crosses Marrok Palmer's path – led by Fate perhaps? Marrok is the new duke of Wolfton. His father was not a good man, and Marrok was forced to take his father’s life in order to protect his sister. He can’t seem to forgive himself for what he had to do and suffers. As Marrok and Delilah both travel, an opportunity is presented. Will there be a future in the making if these two damaged people can find and heal each other? Can they learn to trust and accept a bit of happiness and love in their lives? I really enjoyed this book. Both Marrok and Delilah had such pain and tragedy to deal with that made it difficult to open their hearts. Fortunately, their paths brought them together to give them a chance to find love and happiness with each other. It brought forth a great deal of emotion in the reader and made this a story that would not soon be forgotten.

A wonderful escape. Lately, I have been reading some rather dark and intense work Ms. Brower book was like a cool drink of water so refreshing I really needed it. This truly heartfelt story is about two souls who have been hurt yet with all the pain there is a touch of forgiveness. Sometimes finding your true love is a matter of trust and knowing when to forgive them and yourself. Beautifully written plot it was a wonderful escape on this Monday afternoon. I highly recommend! I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Lady Delilah felt she had no choices. Her manipulative abusive mother only looked out for herself and now that Delilah had come of age she was going to marry her off for her gain. Marrock Palmer, the Duke of Wolfton had also endured an unhappy life too and had to go to extremes to protect his sister from his father. He was almost beyond living with his decision But it seems these two damanged souls were fated to come together. If only they can heal each other and find love. A story of possibilities even in the face of such unhappiness that will in the end bring a smile to your face and a warm feeling in your heart..
