Om te zorgen dat niemand voor het toegestane tijdstip Oklahoma binnengaat wordt Lucky Luke ingehuurd. Hij krijgt het vooral aan de stok met Coyote Will, die allerlei plannen bedenkt om illegaal de grens over te komen. Die plannen worden echter met dezelfde vaart door zijn 'helper' Dopey weer om zeep geholpen.
