About this eBook

Airport Ranger volunteer Stacy Broussard expected a peaceful Saturday morning ride around the perimeter of Houston’s airport. What she encounters instead is a brutal homicide and a baffling mystery. Next to the body is an injured dog, the dead man’s motorcycle, and a drone armed with a laser capable of taking down a 747.

Though FBI Special Agent Alex LeBlanc sees a clear-cut case of terrorism, his past has taught him to be suspicious of everyone, even witnesses. Even bleeding-heart veterinarians like Stacy. But when her gruesome discovery is only the first in a string of incidences that throw her life into a tailspin, Alex begins to wonder if Stacy was targeted. As a health emergency endangers Stacy’s community, and the task force pulls in leads from all directions, Alex and Stacy must work together to prevent another deadly encounter.

This is book one in the FBI Task Force series. If you enjoy reading FBI type mysteries you will enjoy this read, and what a great place to start in the first book. DiAnn Mills does a good job developing her characters and their dialogue. This novel is not as much a suspense as a mystery with love, family and forgiveness all mixed together. It is not as fast paced as some mystery/crime solving books yet this time line is probably more realistic. We are faced with domestic terrorism and so much more. I don't want to give away too many of the twist and turns this novel takes in uncovering the true mystery of a homicide. Stacy Broussard is a determined veterinarian. She has a heart of gold and wants to serve others. Her neighborhood is not the best area but she is determined to make the most out of it. When she stumbles upon a dead body she has no idea what is in store for her. The handsome FBI agent rubs her wrong but she must rely on him more than she desires. Alex LaBlanc is just trying to do his job, he will not be distracted by another beautiful face. But when more things go wrong is he destined to repeat a past mistake or is this case different? I was given an ARC copy of this novel from the Suspense Zone for my honest opinion.
