The world of art just got a bit dangerous and political. I’m a total gonner for a man in uniform. Combine a military romance with romantic suspense and it’s a total win-win in my books. Okay, I know I am totally biased as a military brat. So, I was totally psyched to be reading Deep Cover. Let’s just say, Ms. Jones doesn’t disappoint. Her background in Army Intelligence definitely serves her well in her writing. Deep Cover is about a British SAS officer undercover in a radical terrorist group and what happens when he runs into an ex-lover as one of the hostages taken in the group’s latest shenanigans. Say goodbye undercover op when her well-being is at stake. Shelby Gibson has come a long way from her humble beginnings in a podunk little town where every expectation is that she should marry and procreate like a good little girl. Shelby had just a few other aspirations than being the arm candy or prize breeding mare to any man. Her aspirations though didn’t stop her from becoming engaged to the wrong man, another man out to use her for his upward mobility amongst the movers and shakers of the Washington set. Her job as a political analyst has her moving in rather high circles. Luckily, she wised up. Then one evening, she fell for the suave moves of SAS officer, Trevor Carswell. A hot and steamy encounter saw her waking to hear Trevor making plans to meet up with another woman. Well, color her done when it came to one, Trevor Carswell. That is until she’s face-to-face with him as a hostage. As much as she wants nothing further to do with him, she knows darn good and well he is not the man his current actions portray him to be. When Trevor first saw Shelby, he knew if there was one woman he could love it was her. But, his life as an SAS officer doesn’t exactly lend itself to any kind of permanent relationship. It’s kind of hard to maintain a relationship when you never know when you’ll be leaving or coming back. Not many women are willing to put up with the life he could offer. So, Trevor has resigned himself to a life of one-night stands. He was never quite certain just what he did to earn Shelby’s disdain. Now he’s in a position where he has to choose between his undercover op or the only woman he’s had feelings for. Perhaps, the two of them can salvage something from this fiasco. The Bedlamites are creating damage to museums and the like. The group is run by someone in the shadows and it’s a mystery what the true motivation for the attacks are. If they are lucky, they’ll not only save the day but, find a love worthy of the two of them. Deep cover is full of action, adventure, suspense, and romance. Typical of any crime caper you have a mystery to solve. Ms. Jones has penned a totally enjoyable read I’m sure will please anyone who likes a bit of romantic suspense with a covert military operative and highly intelligent heroine. *****Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions*****
