About this ebook

When a group of young people from the Russian provinces decides to change their hippie life for political activities, they run upon the rocks: traditional society, conspiracy of silence, theocratic tendencies, corrupt bureaucracy that sees any change as a threat.

The heroes of the political fiction novel DEFEAT watch how new political dictatorship succeeds chaos on the ashes of the Soviet Empire. However, not everyone will live through it.

The novel illustrates social diseases of the nowadays Russia, and reluctance of people to extend sympathy and solidarity with those who protect their rights.

A creative lounger Jim becomes a moderator of a human rights organization. Together with his girlfriend Jenny they attract young people wanting to earn money and get some adrenalin from getting involved in politic games. Jenny is balancing between two worlds: the real world and the world of her dreams and meditations.

Gherda, a young lesbian sportswoman, is one of the most remarkable representatives of the organization. Her choice lies between idealism and conformism, and Gherda chooses justice. But the social realm does not accept such a choice.
