Garrett Granger was all set to expand the pond near his great-grandfather’s house, acquire more cattle, when word comes that some women, widows, have invaded the dilapidated house. And the widow in charge is none other that Nicky Marlow, whom Garrett dated all but one month eighteen years ago, back in high school. Garrett had dumped Nicky for Meredith, who became his wife, now ex-wife. Nicky also has her little daughter Kaylee along, which aggravates Garrett’s feeling of loss; he lost his daughter. Nicky says she’s not moving from what will be The Widows’ House, Garrett says she’ll stay there over his dead body. Well, not really, however there is literally a skeleton in the closet! There’s no getting around it: NO GETTING OVER A COWBOY is a fantastic book! Delores Fossen pulls all the stops: there is a lot of drama, much comedy, quite a bit of mystery, a wonderful romance, and even a burgeoning second romance! Ms. Fossen has such a way with words that I don’t believe I will ever forget the jaw-dropping description of the ancient, garish Granger house. Garrett is still heartbroken over his failed marriage, he’s rather cynical, but Nicky doesn’t need any more worries and heartache than she already has, and she intends to open her refuge for widows whether Garrett likes it or not; he’s not the only one making decisions. But both Garrett and Nicky have secrets, and they’re not the only ones! There are many characters in NO GETTING OVER A COWBOY, and Ms. Fossen has everyone fully fleshed out, a lot of them are truly memorable, and even if nothing much happened, those extraordinary characters would have made this book worth reading: the Ellery sisters, and the drop-dead gorgeous, utterly irresistible, single dad bad boy Roman Granger, Garrett’s brother, whose story I am dying to read! The story is very complex, and as multifaceted and colourful as a kaleidoscope: there is absolute mayhem, side-splitting humour, a sexy-sweet romance, and a great suspense: I hung onto Ms. Fossen’s every word! I'm not usually crazy about children in romances, but little Kaylee was just perfect, she stole my heart! NO GETTING OVER A COWBOY hits all the right spots, and the super talented Delores Fossen has outdone herself big time with this book, and that is saying a heck of a lot! Absolutely fabulous from the first page to the last! ~A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection
