About this ebook

Welcome to Lone County, Arkansas, where every corner holds a secret, and the past is never really buried.

Disgraced ex-detective Harper Adams has traded her badge for a desk job at her father's law firm, a move as dull as the small town she's returned to. But things take a turn when a local woman wants to declare her missing husband dead, five years after his mysterious disappearance.

With her father’s firm representing the missing man's wife, Harper seizes the opportunity to delve back into her investigative roots. Her search leads her back to James Malcolm, a former crime boss turned tavern owner, who has his finger on the pulse of every shadowed corner. His offer to help with her investigation catches her by surprise.

Why would a former criminal offer his help unless he has something to gain?

This one conflicted me. I wanted to love it after the first, and although I DEFINITELY didn't hate or even dislike, I felt it dragged on/lost me in parts. But everything has it's place/reason in the book, so even if the legalities go over your head like they did me, I urge you to stick with it as by the last few chapters you'll be wishing for more pages. I can't wait to see what the author comes up with next after that ending.

My Thoughts: This is book 2 in the Harper Adams Mystery series. Each book focuses on a different case but to understand Harper’s relationship with the side characters this series needs to be read in order. I am really enjoying Harper. The case in Long Gone almost seemed too easy but I still enjoyed it. Each book is a different case but there is a bigger case that is being solved throughout all the whole series. This is an enjoyable series that I recommend reading.

Let me just say that this one left me reeling! O.M.G! It was so good, and I love how James and Harper teamed up for this investigation. There is great banter, and humor between the two. I love it!! I found myself looking forward to their interactions. The case that Harper worked on was equally as intriguing and I couldn’t figure out who was calling the shots. Prior characters are mentioned and I found myself giddy with anticipation. I'm patiently waiting on the next one.
