About this ebook

Neely Kate Mystery series is a companion book to the Rose Gardner Investigation series.

Neely Kate Coulson’s life is a carefully built house of cards—and now her newly discovered half-sister is threatening to collapse it. While everyone thinks Kate Simmons was neutralized when she was incarcerated in a psych ward, Neely Kate knows better. Her sister has been sending her letters threatening to expose her past, only Neely Kate has stuffed so many secrets into every available crack and cranny, she has no idea which ones could be dragged into the light.

Growing up with an abusive, drug addicted mother taught Neely Kate to play the game—to be whoever she needs to be in whatever situation she finds herself in. But thanks to her best friend, Rose, she’s discovered she mostly prefers being herself. For the first time in her life, she has a lot to lose—a job, a plan for the future, and an adoring half-brother who happens to be the Chief Deputy Sheriff of Fenton County. But topple one card down, and all of them will fall. Everything she’s built could be lost in an instant.

Neely Kate knows she needs help, but when she reluctantly turns to Rose’s bodyguard, Jed Carlisle, she faces a far more dangerous threat—only this time her heart is on the line.

Trailer Trash by Denise Grover Swank is the Neely Kate story we've all been clamoring for! I've always admired Neely Kate for being so incredibly strong even with the things that have happened to her. Getting to look into her past has been one heck of a journey. Her half-sister Kate intends to reveal Neely Kate's secrets to the world, things which she'd rather keep hidden. This book will have you happy crying, ugly crying, feeling enraged, and cheering for Neely Kate all the while. Neely Kate has two new men in her life, one her half-brother in Joe Simmons, and the other an unexpected romantic interest in Jed Carlisle. She doesn't *need* either one of them, and that's why I feel like the presence of both of them is wonderful for Neely Kate. Joe gives her the kind of safe relationship she's never had before... he's the protective older brother. Jed gives her the possibility of a romantic interest that has naturally evolved over MANY books. I've always liked Jed because he's as loyal as he is a skilled bodyguard for Skeeter Malcolm. Both relationships present tons of potential. Neely Kate just has to let herself trust the people who love her, Rose Gardner included. To really know Neely Kate, this book is a MUST READ for fans of the world of Rose Gardner. Knowing that this is the first of (hopefully) many more standalone books from Neely Kate's point of view is thoroughly exciting! She's a fierce woman, and an equally fierce friend, and I can't wait to see her journey continue.

I was simply astounded by this book, we already knew Neely Kate from the Rose Gardner books and I already had a liking for this positive upbeat person and wanted to know more, when I found out that Trailer trash was turning into a full novel I did a little happy dance. I really felt for NK in this book, Denise was able to give an accurate portrayal of how someone would behave & feel when they are trying to start again from a life they have tried very hard to leave behind. Denise was also able to make the reader feel how NK feels after a life time of being told she is trailer trash and worthless in society. I was able to empathise with this story due my background in social care and linking it to my worklife. I loved it and cant wait for the 2nd installment.

This book was even better than I expected. I LOVE Neely Kate- seriously- we all need a NK in our lives!! But reading “her” side… I don’t know the author does it. I am completely drawn into every single (main) character in this series. Getting to see inside Neely Kate was just icing on the top of an already incredible series. And Jed?? Oh my, JED. LOVE Jed… and even more after reading this! Great job Denise Grover Swank! While this is the first of the ‘Neely Kate’ series… there are many previous books in the entire Rose Gardner series. I do recommend reading the other books as opposed to jumping in right here. If you are confused (because there are a few novellas thrown in there as well) go to the author’s website and see the order of how you should read them. You won’t regret it, I promise. And you can blame me when your eyes are blood-shot from staying up late reading them all. (But don't blame me for your bank account after you keep hitting "buy now" on your e-reader!!) These books are really good. There is mystery, romance, action, drama… at times you will find your mouth hanging open, shocked at what happened and other times your heart will be breaking for whatever character you are reading about. I can hardly wait until the next book!
