I found Charlotte and King have had a terrible past and getting to a place where they can be together was so hard and angsty. I swear, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It's sad with times where you can smile and see their future, even when they can't.

Edgy, action-packed romance King's cousin, Wes, comes to him with a problem concerning King's ex-girlfriend, Charlotte, which leads to King and his team protecting her and one of her clients as they root out the forces behind a black-market baby-selling ring. The first thing they discover is that the fire is still burning hot between King and Charlotte, despite the hatred that rolls off her family when they see him again. This story is instantly captivating with an intricate plot, several swoon-worthy, heroic security specialists, and an emotion-filled second-chance romance that nearly brought me to tears. There's plenty of edge-of-your-seat suspense, a bit of heartbreaking tragedy, and a surprising slice of betrayal before we get to the HEA. I love this security team, love the writing style, love the relationships that we get to watch develop and grow. And, there was a nifty but too short crossover cameo from one of our favorite Assassins. Everything about this book was pure perfection. If you love romantic suspense tales, this one is for you. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A thoughtful yet heart wrenching addition Charlotte, creator and director of the non-profit company Creating Families, is shocked when King, JCL Securities tem member and her former fiancé, reappears in her life after her car was ran off the road. As the story progresses they struggle against their past, secrets are exposed, and the danger lurking may be closer to them than they think. Ella Sheridan has put forth a thoughtful yet heart wrenching addition to her Southern Nights Enigma series. I look forward to seeing who is next to be hit by Cupid’s arrow of the group.
