Hij legt zijn hand op haar blote schouder, zijn mond is droog, hij weet niet of hij haar wil tegenhouden of naar zich toe wil trekken, en dan schieten ze op haar. Hij ziet het kleine ronde gaatje boven haar linkerwenkbrauw, hij ziet hoe ze valt, hij hoort het schot. Hij weet dat ze dood is nog voordat ze tegen het bureau valt en dan op de betonnen vloer in elkaar zakt. Hij staat daar maar, versteend, verstomd, en dan rent hij, terwijl hij zijn dienstpistool uit de leren holster aan zijn riem trekt.
Eenmaal buiten gekomen ziet hij de foto die ze van hen hebben gemaakt. Hij wordt erin geluisd...
