Der Erste Indochinakrieg (in Frankreich allgemein als Indochinakrieg, in Vietnam als antifranzösischer Widerstandskrieg und international als Französisch-Indochinakrieg bezeichnet) wurde vom 19. Dezember 1946 bis zum 20. Juli 1954 zwischen Frankreich und Việt Minh (Demokratische Republik Vietnam) und ihren jeweiligen Verbündeten geführt. Die Việt Minh wurden von Võ Nguyên Giáp und Hồ Chí Minh angeführt. Die meisten Kämpfe fanden in Tonkin in Nordvietnam statt, obwohl der Konflikt das gesamte Land erfasste und sich auch auf die benachbarten französisch-indochinesischen Protektorate Laos und Kambodscha ausweitete.
