About this ebook

“Mudra” is a gesture made with fingers, hands or entire body, sometimes coupled with breathing techniques to stimulate the flow of energy in the body. Mudras originated thousands of years ago and were very well adopted in ancient India, but of late, its essence is seen diminishing. With an intention to bring the benefits of Mudras to common man, Yogacharya Sri D.Prakash Rao has published a book in Telugu by name “Mudralu, Bhandhaalu” which is result of his vast study and research in the area of Yoga and Mudras. Till date it sold around 10,000 copies.

To further strengthen the reach of this knowledge and benefits to larger audience, Sri Prakash Rao along with his daughter Deepthi have brought forward a book in Hindi by name “Mudraye Aur Bandh" which translated by Dr.Sumanlata Rudravajhala. It covers 480 Mudras with pictures, which explains the procedure, time limit to perform the Mudras, their physical, mental and spiritual benefits.

Apart from therapeutic use through chikitsa mudras, this book also covers various mudras on Pranayama, Dhyana (Meditation) to activate chakras, Puja mudras, Mantra mudras, Vaastu mudras, Natya mudras and many more.

Last part of the book contains a detailed list of ailments with special mention about the Mudras which can prevent or cure specific ailments. The reader can find his or her current health issue and practice the specific Mudras proposed in the book to experience direct benefits of Mudras.

Irrespective of the age, if staying fit is your goal, then this is a “Book of all Times”!

NOTE: Though most of the Mudras can be practiced by self to heal the health, there are some Mudras which must be learnt and practiced only under the guidance of an expert Mudra Specialist. The results may vary according to the level of concentration, belief, interest and practice.

About the author

Sri. Dharanipragada Prakash Rao is a renowned “Yoga Acharya” since more than 2 decades now. Since a few years he has also been sharing his knowledge on Mudras and became well known as “Mudra Prakash”. Many channels in YouTube and TV have been presenting his knowledge through a number of Episodes. He also started his own channel in YouTube and a Website in the name of “YogaMudras”.

Sri. Prakash Rao was born in Kovvuru, West Godavari Dist. to Jayanthi Vedavathi and Dharanipragada Veera Rama Sharma on 12th March, 1951. His association with Bharatiya Yoga Sansthan (Regd.) started during the late 90s. He learnt many techniques under the guidance of Yoga Guruji Late Sri.Jathanand Mangalaani who relocated to Hyderabad from Nainital and settled here. As a voluntary Yoga Teacher, he rendered free services by establishing and maintaining more than 50 centers in twin cities by spending a minimum of 2 months in each center, creating awareness and interest in the citizens of surrounding colonies, training and grooming some of them as yoga teachers. They further helped in propagating yoga. For around 10 years he conducted Yoga Kriyas like Sankha Prakshalana and Mud bath. Thousands of participants benefitted under his guidance. Apart from the twin cities, he also established many yoga centers in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Orissa.

He received a number of accolades and awards through many felicitations. The most prestigious ones are: “Best Yoga Teacher Award” and the “Kapila Maharshi Jeevana Saphalya Award” by KMRR Institute.

Based on the location, climatic conditions, prevailing ailments and the needs of participants, he conducts Free Yoga Camps with the main objective being to control the lifetime ailments (Eg: Diabetes, Thyroid, Back Pain etc.) through Yoga within 7 to 21 days. In some situations, ailments like Gas problems, indigestion, constipation, spondylitis, lack of sleep etc. were healed within a day through his simple yet effective techniques. Through rigorous research, he devised a chair for giving relief to backpain and knee pain problems. Also, he devised a stool to practice Vajrasan for those who cannot normally perform it.

Though there is a huge awareness about Yoga, still there is a lack of knowledge about Mudras (they are also a part of Yoga). He identified this gap and started his efforts to fill this gap in the society. He visited many ashrams, camps, libraries across India. He met many knowledgeable Gurus, studied vast ancient literature and did great research, practice on various Mudras to gather a depth of knowledge on the breadth of subject.

He conducted Free Mudra Therapy sessions in various Apartments, Schools, Colleges, Airport, Income Tax Office, Post Office, Rotary Club and Software companies too.

Based on his personal experiences and knowledge gained, he authored his first book titled: “Mudralu Bandhalu” in Telugu in 2013. Originally it started with 300 Mudras and enhanced to include upto around 482 Mudras. By August 2019, the book completed 5 Reprints and sold around 10000 copies.

This Book in Hindi “Mudraye Aur Bandh” is a translation of his Telugu Book into Hindi by Dr.Sumanlata Rudravajhala.
