Treoir Dragon Chronicles of the Belador world: Book 1

I received this book as an ARC. Having just discovered the world of the Belador’s and Dianna Love’s writing in 2019 I was excited to see where this new series was going to go. It did not disappoint! While I was happy to renew friendships with my old favourites from her previous series, they were really fringe dwellers in this book. We are taken on a whole new series of adventures with developing new characters. There is enough background information given in the book to mean that it is not necessary to have read the previous series first. (However I would definitely recommend it as they are fantastic). Beladors have always secretly protected humans while living among them. The book starts with the newly arrived Imortaks manipulating the Belador’s exposure to the human race while taking them hostage. Can human’s cope with knowledge of unnatural beings living among them or will they destroy their protectors? The Imortaks demands must be met to restore the hostages to their families. Deagon the Red Dragon King is a protector above all else. Having lost his family many years ago, the Belador’s are his family now and he is bound to save them at all costs. Thus starts his search for the Grimores. Along his journey we meet new characters to love and learn more of the fascinating dragon history. A journey of discovery with fast paced adventure. Dianna Love has me hooked - I can’t wait for the next book.

This is the prequel to the Belador World series and it was so very engaging. The world building is incredible and so detailed making it way too easy to fall into. The emotions run the gamut from heartbreaking grief to hope and then there is the pure evil of Queen Maeve. I loved Daegan’s character and Ms Love does an awesome job of making him so well rounded after all he has endured. The introduction of Casidhe is also very interesting and I am looking forward to how it will play out between her and Daegan.

The Beladors continue in a new spin-off series! This is the first book in this new series, but you do not have to read the Belador series first. This romance story is full of action, adventure and plenty of majik. The immortals we've come to love will do anything to help Daegan find out what happened to all the dragon families while he was held prisoner, but Daegan and the Beladors also have supernatural beings called Imorticks to deal with in order to keep the Beladors and humans safe. This book does end with a cliffhanger which I am not a big fan of, but I can deal with that since Ms. Love states she'll be releasing all the books within a year. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is honest and voluntary.
